Platinum Prints

Platinum prints, also called platinotypes, are photographic prints made by a monochrome printing process involving platinum, usually in conjunction with its sister element, palladium. This process was first used for photographic prints in the 1830’s.

The platinum tones range from warm black, to reddish brown, to expanded mid-tone grays that are unobtainable in silver prints.

Platinum prints are noted to be the most durable of all photographic processes. The platinum group metals are very stable against chemical reactions that might degrade the print - even more stable than gold. A platinum image, properly made, can last hundreds of years, pending the lifespan of the paper on which it is printed.

My platinum prints are individually processed on hand-coated sheets of Revere Platinum 320gsm cotton rag; an outstanding quality acid-free archival paper. These prints are available in limited edition runs and are available here on my website (click to enter store).
